Last-Minute Christmas Plans: What’s Open and Closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 2024
Christmas and Christmas Eve often bring unexpected errands, whether it’s grabbing a forgotten gift or picking up a missing ingredient. Many stores and offices close during these holidays to allow employees to celebrate with loved ones.
This year, Christmas Eve falls on Tuesday, December 24, and Christmas Day on Wednesday, December 25. If you’re heading out, check the hours of locally owned businesses.
Here’s a breakdown of what’s open and closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 2024:
Kroger, along with its family of stores like Ralphs, Dillons, Smith’s, and King Soopers, will have normal hours on Christmas Eve but will close on Christmas Day.
Whole Foods, Aldi, and Trader Joe’s will operate with modified hours on Christmas Eve and close on Christmas Day.
Costco will be closed on Christmas Day, while Sam’s Club will close at 6 pm on Christmas Eve and remain closed on Christmas Day.
Home Depot locations will generally close by 5 pm on Christmas Eve and remain closed on Christmas Day. Lowe’s will follow similar hours.
Macy’s, Kohl’s, Nordstrom, and Nordstrom Rack will operate with limited hours on Christmas Eve and close entirely on Christmas Day.
Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and TD Bank will close for the holiday. Wells Fargo will shut down at noon on Christmas Eve.
The New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ will be closed on Christmas Day.
Walgreens will remain open both days, with its 24-hour pharmacies fully operational. On Christmas Day, most non-24-hour locations will close their pharmacies.
FedEx Express and FedEx Office will operate on modified hours on Christmas Eve, while most other services will follow normal schedules. All FedEx services except Custom Critical will close on Christmas Day.
UPS will run as usual on Christmas Eve. Some UPS Store locations will open briefly on Christmas Day, with only UPS Express Critical available.
